Hinduism
Shiva - one of the principal deities of Hinduism.
Brings Blessings, Protection
and Joy that elevates all in
the house, office or room.
Shiva, the auspicious one
is one of the principal
deities of Hinduism.
He is the supreme God
within Shaivism one of
the three most
influential denominations
in contemporary Hinduism.
Note:
Hinduism, the third largest
religion in the world,
is a synthesis of various
traditions & cultures.
It contains diverse philosophies
and thought processes.
Hinduism has three main
denominations which in
turn have numerous sub
denominations. The three
main denominations are
Shaktaism,
Shaivism and
Vaishnavasim.
Shiva is the third god in
the Hindu triumvirate.
The triumvirate consists
of three gods who are
responsible for the
creation, preservation and
destruction of the world.
The other two gods are
Brahma and Vishnu.
Brahma is the creator
of the universe while
Vishnu is the preserver of it.
Authors Note:
Shiva is associated with the
'destruction' of the world.
This can be easily understood
in the fact that EVERY
moment the world changes,
and thus the present is
'destroyed' (becomes the 'past')
and a 'new' (creation)
fresh world appears.
The statue gives a clear
impression
of intense concentration
and introspection.
So this is just an expression
of transiency, central in
all religions, since the main
motivation of all religions
is the fact of mortality and
ging for all Human beings.
Transiency is contemplated and is a central practice
of Buddhism - vipassana mediataion.
