Monseñor Romero - Catholic - El Salvador - a Martyr
Museum-quality posters with vivid prints made on thick and durable matte paper.
Monseñor Romero was assassinated
openly while giving Mass.He had been
warned by chiefs of the Military that
he was a target, and wanted
him to stop.
The final straw was when he ordered
the Military and Police on public radio
'obey the law of God - Thou shall
not kill'.
This video is very moving and has
good footage of him in the barrios
among the poor:

The spoken word is in Spanish, and
its it from Italy so some text is in
Italian. It shows how his people
venerate him ever more.
El Salvador was given enormous
military aid by the US Government,
fueling an internal war against poverty
and brutality as we can not imagine.
It has now resulted in both El Salvador
and the US and LA under savage
gangs developed by the
US Prison system!
Saint Óscar Arnulfo Romero y
Galdámez (15 August 1917 –
24 March 1980) was a prelate of the
Catholic Church in El Salvador
who served as the fourth Archbishop
of San Salvador.
He spoke out against poverty, social
injustice, assassinations, and torture
amid a growing war between leftist
rebels and government and
right-wing forces.
In 1980, Romero was assassinated
while celebrating Mass in the chapel
of the Hospital of Divine Providence.
Though no one was ever convicted
for the crime, investigations by the
UN-created Truth Commission for
El Salvador concluded that the
extreme right-wing politician, founder
of ARENA and death squad leader
Roberto D'Aubuisson had given
the order.
During Romero's beatification, Pope
Francis stated,
"His ministry was distinguished by
his particular attention to the most
poor and marginalized."
