Hinduism Hanuman - An example
of the ardent devotee, and
incarnation of Lord Shiva. Hanuman
is a Hindu god, who was an ardent
devotee of Rama according to the
Hindu legends. Note: In spiritual
circles there is an essential practice
of the Guru-Disciple relation. Even
Buddha declared that the highest
person is a Disciple (ie: discipline).
A Guru depends on having earnest
disciples. Thus Hanuman stands for
this ideal disciple. He is a central
character in the Indian epic Ramayana
and its various versions. He also finds
mentions in several other texts,
including Mahabharata, the various
Puranas and some Jain texts.
At vanara, Hanuman participated in
Rama's war against the demon king
Ravana. Several texts also present
him as an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
