Article date: 7-24-19
Born 1916
About: BKWSU
Heads of the Brahma Kumaris
World Spiritual University.
Established in India in 1937,
the University now has more
than 5,000 branches globally.
Dadi Janki is a spiritual
teacher and leader who has
worked for more than 80
years to develop her own
inner peace and power.
The stability she has
attained is such that,
even in her hundredth year,
she is able to serve as
head of the Brahma Kumaris,
an international spiritual
training organization.
Born in 1916 in the
Indian province of Sindh,
now part of Pakistan,
Dadi (“elder sister” in Sindhi)
has become a source of
wisdom in the art of living.
She recognizes that while
technological advances in
diagnosis and treatment
are life-saving and need
to be shared globally,
many health problems arise
from emotional suffering
and need to be addressed
at a deeper level.
Her view is that simple
changes in the way we think
and feel will secure a healthy
future for humanity,
and a better world.
Brahma Kumaris are strictly
lacto-vegetarian and eat food
that is cooked either oneself
or by a member of BKWSU
(Brahma Kumaris World
Spiritual University).
They wear white clothes as a
symbol of purity. Meditation
is part of their life,
and Brahma Kumaris start it
at 4 a.m. every day
As a current administrative
head of the Brahma Kumaris,
Dadi presides over a worldwide
student population of 650,000
people of all ages and backgrounds.
