Saint Francis of Assisi - Italy
Saint Francis of Assisi, born
Giovanni di Pietro di
Bernardone, informally
named as Francesco,
was an Italian Catholic
friar, deacon and preacher.
He founded the men's
Order of Friars Minor, the
women's Order of Saint
Clare, the Third Order of
Saint Francis and the
Custody of the Holy Land.
Like many of the Saints
here, Francis life is a story
of LOVE. It was as profound
as it can be, almost incredible.
Many abandoned ordinary
life to join him in a life of
poverty and prayer. The
mosaics or paintings often
show how animals and birds
responded to his immense love.
Quote:
If you have men who will
exclude any of God's
creatures from the shelter
of compassion and pity,
you will have men who will
deal likewise with their
fellow men. Francis of Assisi.

His well known prayer:
-------------------------------
Lord make me an instrument
of your peace,
Where there is hatred let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
And where there is sadness, joy.
O divine master grant that I may
not so much seek to be consoled
as to console; to be understood
as to understand;To be
loved as to love
For it is in giving that we receive-
and it's in pardoning that we are pardoned.
And it's in dying that we are born
to eternal life.
Amen.
